Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT)
Muscle Activation Techniques (MAT) is one method that provides this type of much-needed preventative maintenance. It’s non-invasive but differs from other preventive methods like massage. The focus with MAT is to reactivate weaker muscles by identifying and correcting muscle imbalances with the goal of restoring stability and strength.
Muscle weaknesses can originate from a few sources, like stress, overuse, or trauma. And the tightness and lack of movement MAT are unique in that we view tight muscles and limited range of motion not as the primary culprits of pain and discomfort, but rather as symptoms caused by muscle dysfunction somewhere else in the body.

What to Expect with MAT
In a MAT session, a trained MAT Specialist will start with an assessment to determine the muscles and specific areas that need treatment. After completing this assessment, the specialist will use hands-on techniques to reactivate these muscles and promote mobility and strength. And then, just like a training plan, they will establish a personalized plan for you to make future improvements.
